Currently the House of Commons itself is under scrutiny for a failure to have proper procedures for whistleblowers, after the resignation of Michael Fallon, and the allegations against a number of MPs. In the recent Hollywood case of Harvey Weinstein, news and drama collided, with serious proposals being made for the company itself to be dissolved. This follows after PR giants Bell Pottinger who were wound up after the scandal over a social media campaign which stoked racial tensions in South Africa. In each case the same questions are raised. • Why did people fail to speak up? • Why were those who spoke up not listened to?
